'It meant everything': Harry Maguire thankful to Beckham for 'touching' phone call

The mockery of Maguire hit new heights when he was jeered relentlessly by Scotland fans after coming on as a substitute at Hampden Park, scoring an own goal. Maguire immediately laughed it off as a "little bit of banter" but admitted hearing from somebody that knows a thing or two about intense criticism meant the world to him. Beckham faced his own share of criticism during his time as a player and has recently spoken out about it in his new Netflix documentary. Maguire said: "It shows how classy he is to reach out to me and to message me. It was something I really appreciated. It was touching really."
