**UPDATE AS OF 5/19/2020 -- AMD just announced that they WILL be adding support for 4000-series CPUs to B450 and X470 motherboards. They will need to set up a 1-way BIOS upgrade that will drop support for some 1st-gen Ryzen CPUs, and details are still forthcoming, but it's great news!**

AMD has announced the B550 chipset, which launches June 16 and supports PCI Express 4.0 when paired with a 3000-series Ryzen CPU. It should be less expensive than X570, but it also [lacks support for 1st and 2nd gen Ryzen] (Note - not anymore, per AMD). Here are some details on the new chipset and what it's capable of.
