Mikel Urdangarin performs at Kern County Basque Club in Bakersfield, California

Basque singer Mikel Urdangarin performed a concert under the trees at the Kern County Basque Club in Bakersfield, California in May 2022. Mikel was invited and supported through a cooperation with the Basque Provincial Government of Bizkaia and CSU Bakersfield's Institute for Basque Studies. Lorea Bilbao Ibarra, Minister for Basque Language, Culture, and Sports for the Provincial Council of Bizkaia introduced the concert musicians and expressed appreciation for the efforts being made to preserve Basque culture in the United States.

Mikel is a well-known folk singer in the Basque Country. Here, he sings four songs, selected from his 25 years. His band members are Rafa Rueda (guitar), Jon Cañaveras (bass) and Ander Hurtado de Saratxo (percussion). His California concerts were part of Mikel Urdangarin's 25 Tour - 25 years of music. He shares an interesting song which was inspired by the animals that appeared during the pandemic experienced in Northern Spain - Hegoalde (Northern Basque Country) and the larger meaning of this song.
