Per quanto concerne la melodia, va segnalato, che essa è tratta dall'Inno Nazionale Polacco «Mazurek Dąbrowskiego» («La Mazurca di Dąbrowski»). Il prete slovacco Samuel Tomášik ne scrisse le parole nel 1834 e da quel momento, con leggere modifiche melodiche rispetto all'Inno Polacco, divenne l'Inno del Movimento Panslavo. Il brano servì ufficialmente quale Inno Nazionale della Repubblica Socialista Federativa di Jugoslavia; dell'Unione Statale di Serbia e Montenegro, nonché quale Inno Nazionale della Repubblica Slovacca nel periodo compreso tra il 1939 e il 1945. Attualemente, in Slovacchia, il brano è considerato alla stregua di un Inno Nazionale godendo, pertanto, di molta popolarità. È sovente eseguito durante cerimonie ufficiali di ogni ordine.

For what concerns the melody, it should be noted, that it is traces its roots in the Polish National Anthem «Mazurek Dąbrowskiego». The Slovak priest Samuel Tomášik wrote the lyrics in 1834 and since that time, with slight modifications to the original Polish symphony, the hymn became the anthem of the Panslavic Movement. The song served as official National Anthem of the Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia, the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro, as well as National Anthem of the Slovak Republic in the period between 1939 and 1945. In current Slovakia the song is still considered as a National Anthem and it enjoys a lot of popularity. It is often performed during official ceremonies of all kinds.
