In my last video, I talked about living in ABUNDANCE and the capacity to act upon the things that you want for you in your life.

We talked about the moment in your life when you say:

“This is it! This is who I am. This is what I want. This is what I’m gonna do right now.”

As a composer, this doesn’t (necessarily) need to be: “I’m gonna win an Oscar for Best Music”

Not even, “I wanna make a living writing music”.

These goals may get you caught up doing projects that you don’t like but let you pay bills (a.k.a. selling your soul… doing stuff you don’t really wanna do)

Ultimately, what we want... is the feeling of ACCOMPLISHMENT.

Accomplishment –as a composer– comes in many forms and shapes.

For some of you, it may mean CREDITS. For others, getting PAID. Or having a FOLLOWING. The RESPECT of your peers, VALIDATION, etc.

Ultimately, you’re in search of ACKNOWLEDGMENT.

Well...

I’m here to tell you that you can have this right now.

How?

Understand this:
We all do things because we want to FEEL a certain way. We want that feeling. And so we do things to get closer to that feeling.

–“When I get on that project, then I’ll feel accomplished"
–“If I get so many likes/comments, then it means I have influence and I’ll feel RESPECT"
–“If I make a living writing music, then I’ll feel I’m a real composer"

The problem with that is that once you achieve what you needed to achieve to feel that way… the moment is going to be so brief (compared to the effort you put in the first place) that you’re gonna go

–“Is this all there is?”

It’s an “if-then”, “cause-and-effect” quid pro quo standard that we cannot sustain because we immediately raise it every time we attain it.

The alternative?

How you FEEL is a choice. Not a consequence.

Yes. Set your goals. But do NOT work towards ACHIEVING those goals fo feel good. Instead, work to ENJOY THE JOURNEY.
