CULT ESCAPE: They said I'd die if I left... They were wrong.

A deeply personal journey comparing the biblical Exodus story to leaving the Jehovah's Witness organization. I explore how, like the Israelites enslaved in Egypt, those born into high-control religious groups experience mental captivity where every aspect of life is dictated: who to love, what to believe, and how to think.

I share my own "burning bush" moment—when I could no longer ignore the contradictions, harmful policies, and conditional love within the organization. Standing at my own Red Sea crossing meant potentially losing family, friends, and my entire support system through the organization's shunning practices.

Despite the warnings that leaving meant certain death, I found life on the other side. Yes, there's a wilderness period of rebuilding your identity, developing critical thinking, and creating a new community. The losses are real and painful. But there's also unexpected joy in discovering authentic connections, pursuing education without limits, and finally living with integrity.

Whether you're still "in Egypt," standing at your own Red Sea, or wandering the wilderness—you are not alone. Your freedom matters. Your story matters. And contrary to what they told us, we didn't die when we left. We finally started to live.
