Nala is back with this week's special guest, the praying mantis!
Given the name ‘Praying Mantis’ because it often looks like it's praying, this incredible little creature is an outstanding hunter in a region filled with lions, leopards, hyenas and wild dogs.
Often referred to as masters of camouflage, the various mantises species can almost perfectly resemble a flower, leaf, stick or branch in both shape and colour.
This camouflage makes them the perfect ambush hunter. Feeding on insects, lizards and even small birds, mantises use the spines on their powerful front legs to quickly grab and skewer their unwitting prey.
