Regenerative poultry on the homestead scale

We love that our chickens are improving the forage quality of our yard, and by moving them weekly we can distribute that impact. Also chickens can be prone to mites and lice, by moving them often we haven't had any parasite issues.

Ducks aren't prone to parasites so moving them isn't as necessary. By keeping them in deep litter we are able to make great compost for our yard, and provide a more predator proof area since ducks are more prone to predator risk.

Many times farmers will either use both for different flocks, or even use different methods based on other conditions (weather, pasture quality, off farm commitments).
