It's time to say sayonara to Skype!

Microsoft has announced that the venerable internet-based phone, videoconference, and chat service will SHUT DOWN in May!

Skype launched back in 2003, and gained huge popularity, largely thanks to its FREE international calling. It was SUCH a success that in 2011, Microsoft paid eight-point-five BILLION dollars for it!

But time, and advancing technology, hit the service hard. There was major competition from FaceTime, which came preloaded on millions of iPhones. Meta released WhatsApp. Google Meet... Zoom... even Microsoft's own "Teams" program caused Skype's star to fade.

And now, Microsoft has told users they should move TO Teams by May fifth!

But if you're a Skyper, don't PANIC! You WILL be able to migrate your Skype data, including your chat history, contacts, and photos, to Teams. And if you DON'T want to move to Teams, one of Microsoft's honchos has promised you'll be able to migrate your conversation history and contacts elsewhere.
