Dent Head Viaduct – Aerial Sweep Above the Head of Dentdale

A short aerial sweep over Dent Head Viaduct, set at the top of Dentdale above Cowgill on the Settle–Carlisle line. Completed in the early 1870s, the 10-arch viaduct was built across steep, unstable ground that challenged the original engineers at every step. A quiet look at one of the line’s most impressive pieces of hard-won engineering.
