Nagorno-Karabakh conflict: Protesters storm Armenian government building after peace deal

Protesters stormed the Armenian government building early on Tuesday morning following the signing of a peace deal between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the Nagorno-Karabakh breakaway region conflict. Demonstrators labelled the deal a betrayal and some demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Pashinyan said on Tuesday he made the decision to sign a ceasefire agreement over the Nagorno-Karabakh region after the army insisted on it.

Under the deal, Azerbaijan will keep territorial gains made in the fighting, including the enclave's second city of Shusha, which Armenians call Shushi. Ethnic Armenian forces must give up control of a slew of other territories between now and Dec. 1.
