This operation was part of a multi-day, multi-state, and multi-country exercise lead by @hhsgov @asprgov designed to test our ability to coordinate the movement of an high-consequence infectious disease patient cluster from Canada to the United States and the use of a new portable biocontainment inside the aircraft to transport patients with HCID.
The full-scale exercise began in Toronto, Canada, where Americans were “infected” with a fictional pathogen. From there, simulated patients were transported in state-of-the-art biocontainment units to specialized facilities across the U.S.
This successful movement in NYC demonstrated how equipment, planning, and strong partnerships can work together to ensure safe and efficient patient transport during a public health emergency.
