Standard 5 Students Write SEA Exam

Standard 5 students throughout the country are today the sitting the Secondary Entrance Assessment Exam in decidedly different times.

Well before the Education Ministry's recommended drop off time of 7:45am, parents and students made their way to the various exam centres, masked up and socially distanced.

Newly sworn-in Education Minister, Dr. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, was on hand at a couple schools in North West Trinidad to ensure that all was ready for the students. One of the schools she visited was the alma mater of her two daughters, St. Ursula's Anglican.

The Minister, accompanied by Minister in the Ministry of Education, Lisa Morris-Julian, and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Lenor Baptiste-Simmons, also visited the Sacred Heart Boys’ RC School.

Minister Gadsby-Dolly said she was satisfied with the steps taken to secure the safety of the SEA students.

In the days prior to the examination, the Ministry of Education listed the requirements for students sitting the exam. Chief among them were the wearing of masks and social distancing. Parents were encouraged to keep sick children at home, assuring them that a makeup test would be available for those who couldn't sit the exam today.
