In this video we break down Program Channel Menu 14: Direction on the Baofeng UV-5R Mini and explain how this setting works alongside Offset to control your transmit frequency. Direction tells your radio whether to shift up, down, or not at all when you press the push-to-talk button.
We walk through the difference between simplex and repeater operation, explain when to use positive or negative shift, and show how one wrong setting can make it seem like your radio isn’t working at all.
Once you understand Direction, repeater programming becomes a lot more predictable and a lot less frustrating.
