Stopping Distance: Cars vs Trucks | Stop Motion Animation | Travel Safety

Watch this stop motion video to see a demonstration of an 18 wheeler and a passenger vehicle stopping when going 65 mph. Generally speaking, it takes a car about 300 feet to stop at this speed, while a tractor trailer needs about 600 feet to come to a complete stop. To put it into perspective, that's roughly one football field for a passenger vehicle, and nearly two football fields for a commercial truck.

As you travel alongside trucks, be sure that you're spatially aware, especially before slamming on your brakes!
