The Big Build Digging foundations, shuttering bad ground and pouring concrete

In this Episode of The Big Build we tackle the groundworks and foundations. We started by identifying all underground services and drains that may be in our way before we started to use our excavators to dig the trenches for the concrete foundations.
Although we tried our best not to hit the incoming water main we did hit it and it was really close to the surface and not at the correct regulation depth, I knew it was a plastic pipe and we cary fittings to repair these so its a simple job !!

Our excavations where really nice and in clay, there was a delay of a few days between our excavations and the concrete arriving onsite mainly due to a bank holiday and also delays because of the national cement shortage, there was rain forecast in the time between us finishing the excavations and the arrival of the concrete so following some signs of the trenches slipping I took the decision to place some trench support shuttering to support the sides of the trenches.
Working in trenches can be dangerous and all precautions should be taken when working in these by means of trench supports and other advised methods
