030223 FM 1488 FATAL CRASH

Daniel James Hathaway, 38, of 138 N, Greatwood Glen Place in Montgomery has been charged with intoxication manslaughter following the crash which occurred at 6:30 pm on Thursday evening. Hathaway was driving a Honda Pilot and was southbound on Community Road when he disregarded the stop sign at FM 1488. Hathaway slammed into a pickup truck that was traveling westbound on FM 1488. The impact caused the pickup to strike an eastbound Infiniti QX60 and roll it over the top of the Infiniti. The pickup landed on its roof next to the Infiniti trapping the driver of the pickup. Magnolia Fire Department arrived on the scene and immediately went to work to free the driver of the truck. Once they were able to it was determined that he did not survive the crash. The driver of the Infiniti was transported to the hospital in stable condition. DPS investigated the crash with the assistance of the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office Vehicular Crimes Unit. Hathaway was determined to be intoxicated. FM 1488 was closed until 10 p.m. as the crash was investigated.
