Fujinon 16-80mm f4 R OIS WR Full Review, Part 2: Portraits (English)
This is Part 2 of my full review of Fujinons latest zoom-lens, the 16-80mm f4 R OIS WR.
And this time I tested it regarding portraits.
I made a promise to try the 16-80 on my next shootings.
Well, I did it with these two wonderful models:

Fabia: https://www.instagram.com/fabi_van_t
Spoiler: I was surprised by the great out-of camera-results with the film simulations . I did not expect the lens to perform that good. There are some examples in the video.
So what is this video all about?
Of course a zoom lens like the 16-80mm f4 will not be the first choice for portrait photographers – also not mine by the way. But with the full format equivalent focal length of 120mm, the lens is still interesting for it.
But what about the maximum aperture of f4? Because of the really shallow depth of field of my beloved 56mm f1.2 I sometimes already take portraits with lower apertures like f4 or f5.6. So the f4 of the 16-80 can be "enough" for a specific style of portrait-photography.
With the longer focal length of the 80 Mill it can create a very nice bokeh, achieved by the 9 blades aperture. And all focal lengths relevant for my portrait photography (23, 35, 56) are of course "included" with the 16-80 Mill. So you can easily change from close up to a medium shot or a more wide angle view.
But of course there are some disadvantage with the 16-80mm: Doing available light portraits in low light situations is not a good thing. But in daylight I can definitely recommend the lens for portraits. Of course, it becomes more difficult with shorter focal lengths and smaller apertures. The image quality is really excellent, but can not keep up with the prime lenses of course.
It can be very good for business portraits, spontaneous street portraits or portraits of your children. It even might be a great option for wedding photographers when shooting outdoors in enough daylight. Additionally, due to the weather sealing, it is an option for portraits in the rain.
If you are looking for a universal lens for travel and maybe want to get started with portrait photography, go and buy it!
