Modular Ambient :: Filmless Score :: Mutable Instruments Elements/Clouds and Qu-Bit Chance
A lengthy (sorry) meditation with Mutable Instruments Elements (in "chord" mode), Clouds, and Qu-Bit Chance.
Those who watch my videos very closely probably know that I have a “Sputnik setup”, and a “Mutable setup”. Each of those setups is comprised of two cases of modules. Each setup has a “main case”, which I can generally use on its own, and enjoy, and an “extension case”, which adds additional utilities and flexibility, and maybe a voice or two. In this video I used just the Mutable extension case by itself, which has Elements as the only oscillator. I decided to see how much variety I could get out of Elements in chord mode.
Patch Notes
==========
Not a whole lot to say really. I’m using Chance to send triggers to Elements via the Rhythm output (which I’m hand adjusting during the piece), and to modulate Elements’ Frequency control (which controls the chord in this mode). There’s also a bunch of modulation from Chance and Batumi into Element’s parameters.
In addition to that, I’m manually making changes to various parameters to bring about more impactful changes to the sounds coming out of Elements. “Conducting”, I guess you could say.
Elements is fed to Clouds in looping delay mode, and I’m manipulating Blend, Texture, Freeze, etc.
Peaks plays a very small part — just the occasional percussive sound you hear.
