Buick ELECTRA & Xiao Yao Super Architecture - better than GM Ultium

At the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, Buick unveiled the next-generation super architecture “Xiao Yao” and ELECTRA, a new sub-brand for its premium new energy vehicles (NEVs).

With the launch of Xiao Yao and ELECTRA, Buick will further sharpen its focus on premium NEVs in China. In the next 12 months, Buick will launch six NEV models based on the Xiao Yao architecture. Within two years, Buick aims to cover all key price segments in the NEV market.

Xiao Yao Super Architecture
3×3×3 full-stack flexibility: Xiao Yao supports a wide bandwidth of vehicle body styles, including MPVs, SUVs and sedans, with front-, rear- and all-wheel drive configurations. It also accommodates various NEV solutions, including battery electric vehicles (BEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and extended range electric vehicles (EREVs).
Battery technology: Buick is partnering with CATL to debut a 6C Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) ultra-fast charging battery, which features a peak charging power of 640kW and can add 350km of range in 10 minutes.
L2 urban driver assistance: Buick is partnering with Momenta to fully deploy L2 urban driver assistance technology on production vehicles in 2025, meeting the highest safety requirements in the industry.
Smart cabin: Powered by the top-tier Qualcomm 8775 chip, the new architecture supports a 50-inch AR-HUD, 8-screen immersive digital layout and AI model integration. It also includes the industry-first multi-position zero-gravity seats and “5-Constant” comfort system (temperature, humidity, oxygen, air purity, silence).

ELECTRA Product Lineup
By blending global legacy with local innovation, Buick is shaping a distinctive premium brand identity for the electric era. Along with the launch of Xiao Yao and ELECTRA, Buick revealed its NEV models to be introduced over the next 12 months, including its all-new flagship MPV ENCASA and two precursor vehicles for the sedan and SUV segments respectively.

ELECTRA GS Concept
As an exploration of Buick's future design language and intelligent electric technology, the global NEV concept car, Buick ELECTRA GS, also made its debut at the event.
