Illustrator - Expand Appearance and Strokes - why stroke placement matters
If you have ever found that expanding an object in Illustrator gives you a result you don't expect, then you NEED THIS VIDEO. I explain how the placement of the stroke on a shape will affect the shapes that it expands to later on. In some cases it will expand to a stroked shape (what you would expect) and in others it expands to a filled compound path - which is unexpected.
I'll show you how to ensure your shapes always expand to be what you want them to be and remove any confusion you might have in using Expand and Expand Appearance on shapes.
