Fender '72 Telecaster Thinline Guitar Demo & Review
Fender '72 Telecaster Thinline Electric Guitar Demo
The stylish Fender Classic Series '72 Telecaster Thinline guitar was designed as a homage to the beloved Fender semi-hollow Telecasters with humbuckers, first released in the 1970s.
The Fender Thinline Tele sports a classy semi-hollow ash body, maple neck, and two Fender Wide Range humbucking pickups. Check out the crisp and articulate clean tones you can coax out of the Wide Range humbuckers with a little bit of fingerstyle playing:
As previously mentioned, the Fender '72 Thinline Tele features a maple neck with lacquered fingerboard. The factory fretjob is satisfactory and the guitar still plays well after 6 years of playing and gigging as my friend's main electric. However, this particular guitar suffers from a considerable error -- a bridge that was installed slightly misaligned at the factory, causing the low E string to sit nearly off of the top of the fretboard after the 12th fret. It's certainly playable as is, and I think a new nut may help alleviate the problem somewhat, but it's difficult to intonate the low E properly and if it were my guitar I'd consider sending it for warranty repair.
The semi-hollow, 2 piece ash body is CRAZY resonant -- this guitar could easily be played without an amp if you need to keep the volume down. This guitar's best feature are the Fender Wide Range humbuckers. They're bold and thick like a humbucker should be, but still retain an unmistakable Tele twang and chime:
All in all, the Fender Classic Series '72 Telecaster Thinline guitar is a fun and classy guitar to add to your collection. Besides the issue with the bridge (which probably shouldn't have made it out of the factory), this guitar is a blast to play, and is truly versatile enough to get the job done as your main guitar, night after night.
