Line and wash watercolour tutorial demonstration

Hot on the heels of the drawing stage of my line and wash drawing of Lotherton Hall, here’s the watercolour-arguably the fun bit.😎
As mentioned before, my aim was not to carefully ‘ colour in’ the line drawing but to try and stay loose with, as far as possible, just one brush stroke rather than overworking the colour. Once the watercolour was finished, I then went back in with my pen to strengthen and emphasise some elements of the composition.

Colours used in this piece ( all Daniel Smith) include : Cobalt blue; Yellow ochre; sap green; Undersea green; Payne’s Grey; Indigo and quinacridone gold.

The drawing was in a Moleskine watercolour sketchbook, and the pens were Unipin fine line 0.1 & 0.3.
