New Orleans Weather: Hot and dry pattern this week
Meteorologist Alexandra Cranford has the forecast at 10 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2024.
We get a whole week of hot summer weather with little to no rainfall. High pressure will expand toward us from the southwest. This will keep the chance of rain slim as a generally downward motion prevails in the atmosphere. This will make it hard for cooling showers or thunderstorms to form.
Afternoons will bring us into the 90-degree range under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. With fairly high humidity, it will feel like the upper 90s or even around 100 in the afternoons. Many schools are letting out for summer, so kids and parents should remember to dress cool and drink lots of water. Take it easy if you start to feel tired or faint when exercising and working outdoors.
