Who Topped the Met Gala Power Rankings?🤑

With the theme “Tailored for You,” inspired by the Costume Institute’s latest exhibition “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” the event embraced dandyism, sharp tailoring, and fashion as a marker of Black identity and cultural expression — and it delivered on every front.

In a bold move to freshen the guest list, Anna Wintour welcomed a wave of first-time attendees, including international athletes, Bollywood megastars, and cast members from the upcoming season of The White Lotus. These newcomers would ultimately steal the spotlight — and shake up the traditional celebrity hierarchy.

While past Met Galas often saw familiar powerhouses like Rihanna and Zendaya dominate headlines, this year told a different story. According to the exclusive Red Carpet Power Rankings by Launchmetrics, which measures earned engagement through its Media Impact Value (MIV) algorithm, the 2025 event generated a staggering $1.3 billion in MIV — nearly matching the previous year’s total, but in just 48 hours.

Leading the fashion brand rankings was Louis Vuitton, not only the primary sponsor of the night but also the creative force behind some of its most talked-about looks. With Pharrell Williams — Louis Vuitton’s men’s creative director — acting as both designer and co-chair, the brand dressed ten stars, including Sabrina Carpenter, Pusha T, Doechii, and Jeremy Allen White. Carpenter’s bespoke burgundy pinstriped ensemble, styled by Pharrell himself, was one of the evening’s most photographed and liked. Louis Vuitton’s total MIV soared to $55.2 million, securing its first-place finish.

But the biggest surprise came from the women’s category. Lalisa Manobal, globally known as Lisa of Blackpink and now transitioning into acting with a debut role in The White Lotus, topped the women’s rankings. Her custom Louis Vuitton look — a boned jacket over a monogrammed corset and tights — combined tailoring and glamour, earning her over 3.3 million likes on Instagram and the number one spot in MIV among women.

Following closely were Thai actress Sarocha Chankimha in Valentino and fellow Blackpink member Jennie in Chanel. Jennie’s social media activity, including multiple posts and tens of millions of replies, significantly boosted her MIV. Surprisingly, both Rihanna and Zendaya, despite their enormous online followings, fell to fourth and fifth place. The reason? Neither posted their Met Gala looks on Instagram — a move that cost their respective brands millions in lost engagement.

On the men’s side, it was Bollywood royalty Shah Rukh Khan who claimed the top spot — a historic moment as the first male Indian film star to attend the Met Gala. Invited by renowned designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Khan’s look included a striking suit and a Bengal tiger–themed gold walking stick. His Instagram post, which drew over 5 million likes and nearly 81,000 comments, contributed to an MIV of $19 million, placing him well above global names like Lewis Hamilton and Bad Bunny.

Punjabi icon Diljit Dosanjh also made a powerful impression, ranking third with his regal Prabal Gurung look and a custom necklace from Mumbai-based jeweler Golecha, whose $2.8 million MIV helped them break into the top watch and jewelry rankings — a list otherwise dominated by legacy giants like Cartier and Tiffany & Co., who dressed more than 30 attendees combined.

Among accessories, Christian Louboutin led the way, thanks to bold shoe choices seen on stars like Law Roach and Andrew Scott. Legendary milliner Stephen Jones made headlines too, designing custom hats for Rihanna, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Kim Kardashian, which brought him to the top of the hat game with $1.4 million in MIV.

Even unexpected names made waves — such as George Lucas, who wore a navy tuxedo with discontinued Nike Flex Experience sneakers, prompting an outpouring of online conversation and a surprise ranking for the athletic brand.

In total, the top five women alone generated $86.2 million in MIV — nearly double the total of the top five men — reinforcing the unmatched influence of women on red carpet engagement. Yet this year’s real takeaway was the global shift in red carpet power: Asian stars, Bollywood legends, and first-time Met Gala attendees didn’t just make an impression — they topped the rankings, redefined the red carpet narrative, and expanded what it means to dominate fashion’s biggest night.
