Please share this post with anyone anxious about having clear water on their upcoming Navarre Beach trip!☺️ This is something I get asked about over and over - is there sargassum? When will the sargassum move out? Is there going to be sargassum in the water on X date? In the summer, the answer is always - maybe! Typically mid May-end of August sargassum/June grass in the water is always a possibility, as they bloom in the hot summer months. How much or how little is present 100% depends on wind speed/direction and currents. One day there can be no sargassum near shore and the next - a lot! (For example, 2 days ago the water was nearly clear, yesterday we saw a little sargassum, and now today we have a lot - all caused by strong west winds) So with that in mind, if there is sargassum present on Navarre Beach during your vacation, here’s 3 potential ways you can find some pretty, clear water to swim in. 1) Embrace the beach hop! Look at what beach conditions look like on Facebook for surrounding areas (Destin, Okaloosa Island, Pensacola Beach) There is a chance due to winds/currents, some beaches may have better conditions than others. This advice can be applied to any local beach along the Emerald Coast. 2) Go see what the water looks like soundside! It is generally more clear (although sometimes visibility may not be great) and more calm than gulfside. I like going to Juana’s because it’s a good central locations to set up alongside the beach and have food/drinks nearby, shallow water for kiddos to swim in, and rental options like paddle boards, jet skis, etc to keep you entertained. 3) Go to Crab Island in Destin at HIGH TIDE (super important, water looks like blue Gatorade at high tide, and more like pickle juice at low tide) We like Destin Bay Hopper for affordable, pay by seat/private crab island excursions or if you’re looking for a real treat, booking a private catamaran with Sailing in Destin😁 If you see me out at Crab island or Destin, it’s typically with one of these two! #sargassum #navarrebeach #navarrebeachflorida #emeraldcoast #vacationtips
