I. K. Brunel at Tollesbury, Esssex
From 1830-32 Brunel visited the village and Old Hall Marshes about a mile to the north where he used two syphon pumps to drain flooded agricultural land. Brunel is not widely associated with Essex because this was one of his first independent assignments and is barely mentioned in biographies.
