Just think, in 1986, about 5.2 billion Soviet rubles were allocated for the construction of the Kharkov heat and power plant, which at that time was equal to almost 7 billion dollars. For example, the super-high-rise skyscraper Burj Khalifa with a height of 828 meters in Dubai was built in 6 years with a budget of $ 1.5 billion, it is the tallest and multi-storey building in the world. This is truly a gigantic scale of construction in the times of the USSR!
We will breathe a second life into all forgotten objects of past centuries and show you them in a different light. Stay tuned, it will be cool further! You can get to Borki by any train in the direction of Lozovaya, reaching the Spasov Skeet station, by the way, there you can also visit the chapel of the miraculous Savior built on the site of the Tsar's train wreck.
The village of Borki was founded in 1659 and is practically the same age as Kharkov. Its surroundings are incredibly picturesque, the village is located between the two rivers Jgun and Mzha, on the banks of which there are amazing beaches with white, almost Maldivian sand. They are surrounded by a shady mixed forest. In 1888, the whole of Tsarist Russia instantly learned about a small village in the Kharkov province, on October 17, at the Borki railway station, an imperial train crashed, which followed the Crimea to St. Petersburg. The train derailed and rolled down the embankment; during the disaster, Emperor Alexander III with his wife and children was in the dining carriage, which was damaged less than others. This saved their lives. In this tragedy, about 70 people were injured, 20 people died. The Emperor was so shocked by the incident that he ordered the construction of a temple and a chapel in honor of his miraculous salvation. During the Second World War, the temple was destroyed and the chapel was badly damaged. Now it has been completely restored and is open to the public. Shortly before the incident with the royal train in 1873 in the vicinity of the village, local residents witnessed the fall of a meteorite. A huge fireball traced the sky and fell into the forest with a terrible crash. The earth shook like an earthquake, a lake was formed at the site of the meteorite's fall, which was later popularly called "Red", since the mysterious stones at its bottom emitted a red glow, and in the sky a mysterious glow similar to the "Northern Lights" was observed for several days.
