"It was the gloomiest, most depressing bathroom Harry had ever set foot in. The floor was damp and reflected the dull light given off by the stubs of a few candles, burning low in their holders..."—Harry visiting Moaning Myrtle's Bathroom for the first time.

The second floor girls' lavatory, more commonly known as Moaning Myrtle's Bathroom, is situated on the second floor of Hogwarts Castle. It has been out of order for years and no students ever enters. Hermione took this as a good opportunity to brew some illegal potion, and successfully turned herself into a half human, half cat by accident...

This bathroom holds a huge secret - it is the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets. To get in the Chamber, a person needs to say "open" in Parseltongue. This will cause the tap with a snake on the side to move into the floor, revealing a tunnel which leads downwards into the Chamber. Harry and Ron had bravely entered to save Ginny, and returned safely. Ever since then, the Chamber remains closed (until Ron had to go in again to retrieve some poisonous fangs!!!)

Moaning Myrtle is actually a young girl ghost that's quite sensitive and not scary at all. She took a fancy to Harry when he was there and also talked to Draco Malfoy when he was feeling down... We should treat Myrtle respectfully when visiting her bathroom.

So dear traveler, um, watch your steps especially now it's nighttime...Take a look around in this mysterious room. Wait...you are not Slytherin's Heir...are you??
