How SpaceX’s Starship Will Handle Life Support?
SpaceX is building the most powerful spacecraft ever with the Starship. When completed, clients are waiting to put it to different uses as it is a very versatile spacecraft and this is because SpaceX is making it to be 100 percent reusable.
Musk's ultimate goal is to colonize Mars. The trip time is based on a trans-Mars injection (TMI) delta velocity of 6 km/s and a Mars entry velocity of 8.5 km/s. The average length of a trip to Mars is approximately 115 days.
The design of the transport system was well covered and SpaceX works around the clock on the first orbital flight of Starship. However, nobody has mentioned the surface ecology of Mars and the implementation of a life support system.
Both are very important systems for long-term habitation on Mars. The spaceship lands on Mars and is to be used as the Mars surface habitat in the early stages of the mission.
So, How Will SpaceX's Starship Handle Life Support?
Let's find out all in today's episode of SpaceX Fans. I'm sure we'll have a lot of interesting things waiting for you.
Now, let get started:
Firstly, we will be uncovering the layout of Starship interiors needed to support life.
On Starship's official users guide SpaceX mentions that: The crew configuration of Starship includes private cabins, large common areas, centralized storage, solar storm shelters, and a viewing gallery.
Thanks to the famous Canadian design engineer, Michel Lamontagne has created a concept for the interior layout of SpaceX's 100-passenger Starship.
The design divides the living space into 7 decks, labeled A to G, from the bottom-up. There are two openings between decks, offset slightly from one deck to the next, to reduce the risk of accidents related to trying to "fly" through multiple decks while in zero-G. There are removable rails around the openings, to prevent accidental falls while on Earth or Mars. All decks have a 2.2m high living space, except Deck G, which is 2.16m high. The blue bars in some areas are examples of hand and footholds like they use on the International Space Station (ISS).
