(Merci beaucoup!)

"I've tried to translate it, but it's rather impossible because of all the puns. Anyway, here is a VERY rough English translation of this song:

1. In my street there are two shops.
One sells water and the other milk.
The first one isn't pleasant
Whereas the second one, which sells milk, is.
And that's why every passer-by
Points at it saying:

2. O how fine-looking the milk bar is!
O how ugly the water bar is!
One so fine-looking milk bar; one water bar so ugly!
If there is one fine-looking bar it is the fine-looking milk bar for sure.
In the water bar there is the handsome Boby;
In the milk bar there is the beautiful Babée.
There are really nice each in their bars,
But Boby and Babée are enemies.

3. For onlookers are taken with
Babée's milk churns.
And they damn the bar's slow service,
The slow service due to the large churns of Boby's water bar.
That's why Babée blames her empty churns
On Boby, and Boby answers,
Emptying his churns:
The water churns of his bar, here you go!
The water churns of his bar, here you go!

4. In my street there's a wedding,
That of the handsome Boby and the beautiful Babée.
There they are now as a couple;
The water bar marries the big fine-looking milk bar!
They have repainted their shops in white
And everyone coming in says:

5. O how fine-looking the milk bar is!
What a palace this water bar is!
One so fine-looking milk bar; one water bar not so ugly (or palace: palais)!
If there is one fine-looking bar it is the fine-looking milk bar for sure.
Boby has added a dash of milk in his water,
And Babée water in her milk.
They've finally understood that their united bars
Make the biggest and prettiest of fine-looking bars.

6. And the onlookers are taken with
Babée's milk churns.
Yes but Boby keeps to himself
The pretty Babée's two most beautiful milk churns.
And now if you go there
You'll hear the happy babbling
Of two beautiful blond babies
Who knock over, with one leap,
Every water and milk churns of the house!
Every water and milk churns of the house!
They club each other with fine-looking churns
At Boby and Babée's and here they go! (or here you go or here I go, etc...)"
