Quick fix of a windscreen fluid pump.

1. Introduction.
• Quick fix of a windscreen fluid pump on a Citroën Xsara Picasso.
• Also applicable on the following vehicules: Renault, Peugeot, Citroën, Dacia and even more.
2. How does it works?
• There is only one pump for both front and rear windscreens.
• The fluid's direction is made by a rubber slider in the pump.
• While cleaning the rear windscreen, we apply a voltage on the pump's motor which sends cleaning liquid trough the black pipe wich also push the rubber slider to block the white pipe.
• In the same way, while cleaning the front windscreen, we change the voltage polarity, which rotates the pump's motor in the opposite direction.
Thus, the liquide goes trough the white pipe and the rubber slidder block the black pipe.
3. The symptoms are:
• The liquid is not sprayed on the windscreens even if the motor works in both directions and the pipes are clear.
4. The problem's origine:
• The issue comes from the rubber slider wich swells because of the passing years.
• Thus, there is no more room for the slider.

5. The cure:
• Dismount the pump and cut a bit of the rubber slider.

6. Procedure:
• The pump is located behind the right front mud guard.
• To remove the mud guard, pop out the plastic fastener colored in yellow and undo Torx screews shown by the blue arrows.
• The mud guard is now removed.
• We have access to the cleaning fluid reservoir and the pump.
• Unplug the electric connector colored in green as well as the pipes, here in red.
• It's not necessary to remove the reservoir from the engine bay. You can directly pop out the pump with the reservoir in place.
• With a flat screewdriver gently unplug the distributor.
• With a small flat screewdriver ,separate the black side from the white side and than you can reach the slider
• At the end, cut neatly a bit of the rubber.
• Check if pump works correctly.
• Remount everything in the opposite way of the dismounting.
