The empty Chair

When I started my job, there was this chair in the corner of the meeting room.
Old, dusty… no one sat in it.

One day, I asked my manager, “Why do we keep this broken chair?”
He smiled and said, “That chair is a reminder. It belonged to someone who showed up every day—early, humble, hardworking. No title. No complaints. Just impact.”

Then he added,
“When he left, we kept the chair to remember… effort speaks louder than words.”

That stuck with me.

Now, every time I feel like giving up or being lazy, I look at that chair and think:

If you keep showing up, one day... they’ll save a seat just for you.
