The Pike Hinged Pop up Rig

Pike Tutorial number 3 and today we start getting a bit more technical due to sometimes having to think outside the box in order to keep within the regulations set on a fishery whilst presenting a deadbait exactly how the pike want it.

The hinged pop-up rig was developed when fishing Frensham Great Pond in Surrey, a sixty-acre, very shallow venue in the depth of winter when a pre-baiting campaign also repaid me with loads of big pike. I wanted a bait sitting just off bottom, wafting around, and that extra movement saw catch results triple.

Pop-up baits, especially on big still waters are always a good tactic and should never be overlooked so in this technical vide I show you just how to make a trace designed for a water, something that you may well have to do to get the best out of each session.

Note - The picture is of one of the many beautifully marked pike caught from Frensham a few years back.
