"Sufi Songs of Love celebrating Abraham, Sarah and Hagar" - with Amir Vahab & Ensemble

“An ambassador for a silenced music.” The New York Times

Amir Vahab is one of the country's most celebrated Middle Eastern musicians.
In "Sufi Songs of Love celebrating Abraham, Sarah and Hagar," Amir Vahab's repertoire is grounded in traditional Persian poetry and music that he believes is part of our global heritage, and needs to be both taught and preserved. This evening concert-talk, performed in multiple languages, weaves together spoken word and songs set to 13th-14th century poetry from Rumi, Hafiz and Yunus Emre.

“Music should be so powerful such that one is powerlessly dragged to the unknown. It should invade the listener’s mind to the point of losing awareness.” — Amir Vahab
