Ken Fisher Details Why Today’s Investor Headline Fears Are Bullish for Stocks
Ken Fisher, founder, Executive Chairman and Co-Chief Investment Officer of Fisher Investments, says today’s headline fears—such as high energy prices, inflation and others—are actually bullish for stocks. Ken believes these fears indicate investor sentiment has cooled this year, leaving room for economic reality to surprise investors to the upside.
Markets pre-price all widely known information. Today’s fears are either so widely talked about they lack the surprise power to move markets, or they are entirely false fears. Ken says both scenarios are bullish for stocks moving forward.
Legendary investor Sir John Templeton famously said, “Bull markets are born on pessimism, grow on skepticism, mature on optimism and die on euphoria.” Compared to earlier in the year when it seemed like we were closer to euphoria, Ken thinks recent fears indicate we are still in the optimism phase, suggesting this bull market has more room to run.
