5 People Injured After Helicopter Crashes Into Pedestrian Bridge Huntington Beach #helicoptercrash

A helicopter taking part in the Cars N’ Copters event crashed into a pedestrian bridge in a Huntington Beach parking lot around 2 p.m. on Saturday.

According to officials, two people were inside the helicopter and three pedestrians were injured. All five were taken to the hospital — their current conditions have not yet been released.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing loud “pop, pop” sounds before seeing the aircraft fall near the Hyatt Regency Hotel area along the Pacific Coast Highway.

Authorities say the FAA and NTSB will investigate the cause of the crash. Despite the incident, officials confirmed that Sunday’s Cars N’ Copters event is still scheduled to continue as planned.

Witnesses say they’re grateful the situation wasn’t worse, given the large crowds in the area.
