Stoicism Exercises: View From Above, Negative Visualization, Voluntary Discomfort

Three Stoic exercises from Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, and Epictetus — and why they actually work for men who want to think clearer and handle life better.

Marcus Aurelius gave us the View From Above — a mental exercise that puts your problems in perspective by zooming out to the scale of the universe. Seneca gave us Negative Visualization — not to be dark, but to break hedonic adaptation and build genuine daily gratitude. Epictetus gave us Voluntary Discomfort — deliberately choosing hard things like cold showers, fasting, and early training to destroy your dependence on comfort before life does it for you.

These aren't theories. They're tools. And they hold up because they've survived thousands of years of actual human experience.

We're reading through the original post and breaking down each exercise with practical commentary on how to apply them if you're a man working on his mindset and mental frame.
