Bidafarma expands to Madrid with a highly automated logistics system | SSI SCHAEFER

Bidafarma is one of the leading pharmaceutical wholesalers in Spain. Until February 2016, the only centralized hub of the cooperative was located at the headquarters in Seville. As Bidafarma has undergone significant expansion into central and northern Spain over the last few years, a new hub has been constructed at the heart of the country; in the capital Madrid. The pharmaceutical wholesaler decided to equip also its newest warehouse with solutions from SSI SCHAEFER. In order for the roughly 120,000 order lines to be picked each day, SSI SCHAEFER designed a highly automated logistics system with a total throughput of over 1,500 bins per hour. The SSI Order Verifier is a special feature of the system. It performs a zero-error quality check of all products in order to comply with the legal provisions on documentation and traceability for medical products.
