Cleaning and treating rubber roof. Roof repair mistakes

If I had a do over to fix my roof, I would not have trimmed the excess with scissors. I would have left the 1/2 inch of membrane on until I screwed the rain gutter / trim on then cut off the excess with a box cutter knife. That way the membrane would have acted as a rubber gasket protecting the fiberglass siding from rubbing on the rain gutter.
