Xbox CSO Matthew Ball says Gears of War E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will stay as an Xbox exclusives.

No conversation to reverse course and continue to expect signature exclusives every year. Microsoft has reportedly shut down Compulsion Games, the studio behind South of Midnight.

The report comes after Mike Straw said employees at Compulsion and Arkane were worried about their studios’ future. He later added that some of his sources were senior staff, who said there was “real concern” inside the teams.

Compulsion joined Xbox in 2018 and released South of Midnight in 2025. The game recently won a Peabody Award lol

Microsoft hasn’t commented on the report so far. Hardware leaker SneakersSO claims Microsoft may already be reconsidering its recently renewed focus on Xbox exclusives.

Posting on NeoGAF, the leaker said the company’s true financial situation only became clear internally “3-4 weeks ago” and suggested the recent push around exclusives was largely intended for convention season.

“Exclusive talk was nothing more than a show for convention season. Already there is talk about how to reverse course on it.”

While SneakersSO has previously been accurate on some Xbox hardware information, it should be treated as a rumor. Xbox Studios that are reportedly on the chopping block and might be getting shut down:

- Compulsion Games
- Ninja Theory
- Arkane
- Double Fine

Multiple insiders warning no studio is considered safe and it will be a "bloodbath" and it will impact all of Xbox.
