May 31, 2017: LP cell, supercell, and sunset
Severe weather rolled through eastern New York on the afternoon of May 31, with an EF-1 tornado in Dutchess County, and a supercell with large hail and strong winds in Schenectady and Albany County. In this video, note:
13:25: LP supercell quickly develops, with strong mid-level rotation...but subsequently weakens in absence of significant instability.
15:55: Shelf cloud approaches and moves through Albany. Note the lowering on the far right side of the video at around 16:06, which was a mesocyclone over Colonie.
The remainder of the video leads to an impressive sunset.
