Southern Hills using robot for early detection of lung cancer

Southern Hills Hospital is one of the only hospitals in Nevada offering early detection for lung cancer using a robot, furthermore Dr. Changawala is one of only a handful of pulmonologists in America trained on the device. The robot is so precise it can move through remote and typically unreachable parts of the lung. Previously, if a spot or nodule was detected on a lung doctors would wait to monitor to see if it grew. Lung cancer is one of the most deadly cancers because it’s often treated and detected too late. Now with the new robot, doctors can examine, biopsy and even remove nodules much earlier buying patient’s valuable time. Dr. Changawala says he believes this new technology will save lives.
