How ICON Aircraft Trains Pilots to Fly Seaplanes
If you're interested in learning more about ICON Flight Training or our safety philosophy, this video is for you. Click here to learn more about our training program: http://bit.ly/Flight-Training
The Landplane Transition Course (TX-L for short) is how ICON teaches certified landplane pilots to safely operate the amphibious A5 in the water environment.
We invited travel reporter and journalist Kellee Edwards to ICON Company Headquarters in Vacaville, CA to demonstrate how ICON trains SEL or other land-based pilots how to land on the water.
ICON Flight Instructors have hundreds of hours teaching pilots of all abilities how to safely navigate the dynamic water flying environments and low-level altitudes native to the A5. Kellee’s experience going through the 4-day transition course offers a first-hand look at training at an ICON Flight Center.
Beginning with three hours of classroom training, the instructor and pilot brief the first flight and then take to the sky— and the lake—to practice landing on the water for the first time.
From there, our instructors continue to increase your comfort level, while highlighting the safety features and unique attributes of the A5 that make it so dynamic and safe at low-altitudes.
If you have an interest in flying a seaplane or are looking for a seaplane for sale, we invite you to learn more about our TX-L training program; created exclusively for future A5 owners interested in becoming endorsed to fly our aircraft. The only prerequisites for A5 owners or future owners to train with ICON (aside from standard FAA requirements) are a desire to continuously improve and a passion for exploring and seeing the world in a new way.
