Immense gratitude to Youtube channel John Denver - HealingTimeOnEarth for uploading the original archival audio of John's Ridgefield OH concert in 1975. Do listen; it's an absolute treat to the ears.

The concert is excellent for so many reasons, and for me; this original key Looking for Space would be worth the whole admission.

From 1977 when the band changed, there are other changes as well. In particular songs being transposed down to a lower key. Understandable really, as the voice naturally changes, preservation of the voice, plus the artists' desire to offer different interpretations.

The listener's ear is very subjective and there are certain songs of his that are ripe at certain stages of his voice. But the period of 1974 to 1976 there is an unmatched freedom in his voice that is restrained in later years. Not worse; just different.
