The movie rating system is flawed, and these films are all great examples. The Wolverine, The Expendables 3, Mortal Kombat, Sucker Punch, Insidious, Terminator Genisys and Hanna are all alike in that they were in need of a more mature rating, regardless of their performance at the Box Office.

For this list, we’re looking at films that, when released theatrically, were either cut down in content to avoid an R rating or were tinkered with from the start to appeal to a broader audience.
