Experience Vancouver’s most iconic ride as you follow the curve of the Stanley Park Seawall on a golden June evening. With the sun dipping low over the Salish Sea, this leisurely loop wraps around the park’s rugged coastline, offering ever-changing views—from the city skyline glowing in the distance to waves lapping gently against the stone wall.

Construction of the Stanley Park Seawall began in 1917, originally as a way to prevent erosion from damaging the park’s shoreline. Much of the early work was done by unemployed men during the Great Depression and later by prisoners and park board crews. The seawall wasn’t fully completed as a continuous loop until 1980, and even then, the stretch around the park’s outer edge remained a work-in-progress for years. Today, it’s one of the world’s most scenic urban pathways—a peaceful ribbon of stone that started as a practical defense and grew into a beloved destination for cyclists, walkers, and nature lovers alike.

The path winds past beaches, forests, and cliffs, all lit by the warm hues of sunset. Cyclists, joggers, and walkers share in the peaceful energy of the evening, as the air cools and the sky turns shades of orange and rose. Whether you’re new to the city or know this route by heart, there’s something timeless and calming about watching day turn to night beside the ocean.
