Join me today on a very quiet lockdown walk around Ingoldmells beach resort area and Fantasy Island Theme Park.

Everywhere is currently closed due to the ongoing lockdown in the UK and this makes for a rare very deserted look at this popular holiday destination.

Ingoldmells is derived from Old Scandinavian meaning ‘Sand Banks’ , it has connections to the Romans with remains found during construction works. The area also served as an RAF early warning radar base in WWII.

Known mainly as a holiday area with many caravan sites surrounding the main Fantasy Island Theme Park there is a small local residential area to the west surrounding the church.

Our walking tour focus is on the Beach Front and Theme Park, with its miles of beaches, long promenade and many entertainment facilities, it is well loved by many who return year after year.
Fantasy Island includes the Pyramid and was named Britain’s first indoor theme resort when opened by HRH Duke of Gloucester in 1995. The theme park offers rides including the Millennium Rollercoaster and a yet to be unveiled new ride for 2021 , 7 day market, restaurants and cafes, shows and entertainment.

When open this area is always busy to some extent throughout the year, but currently empty apart from a few workman and people exercising.
