TEDxFruitvale - Nikki Henderson - The Black Power and Farmworker Movements
Surely two of the biggest social justice movements of the 1960s were working together? Yes, they were -- but the shared history of the Black Power and César Chávez movements isn't well known. The Black Panthers supported the United Farm Workers' grape boycott by directing members away from Safeway in 1969, among other interesting collaborations. Here, Nikki Henderson tells why the heirs of these two movements might want to join forces.
About Nikki Henderson, executive director, People's Grocery:

institutions, and leadership development programs. Nikki previously worked for Green for All and Slow Food, national organizations pursuing food, health, and environmental progress.
This talk is part of Session Two: Movement for TEDxFruitvale, which was held on October 14, 2011 at Mills College in Oakland, CA.
