Biden spoke of 'typical Democrat laundry list things' in SOTU address

Sky News host James Morrow says US President Joe Biden was going into his State of the Union address in a "tremendously disadvantaged" position given his current "catastrophic" poll numbers.

"He's got catastrophic poll numbers that are bleeding through to the Democrats which means that the Democrats, if something does not change, are going to be absolutely wiped-out at the midterm elections in November," Mr Morrow said.

Mr Morrow assessed President Biden's first State of the Union address.

"It was a pretty interesting speech we saw today, more for what Joe Biden didn't say, than what he did," Mr Morrow told Sky News Australia.

"It was really remarkable, I think, for the things that were not in the speech.

"It was a speech that was a list of, kind of, announceables ... typical Democrat laundry list sort of things."
